I have long supported government support of private industry for various reasons. Not everyone does though.
I agree, this was money well spent…they can’t all be Solyndras!
edit.
I think he got loans for Tesla. We probably made money on him. I think it actually was the same program that loaned to Sol. The program itself was very profitable IIRC.
Climate change is real, it happens 4 times a year, it’s called winter, spring, summer and fall.
The only thing the environmentalist new green deal whacko movement, (once known as global warming) addresses with their madness is the extinction of the human species… sooner than later… with Americans first!
It is a form of a commie plot as only about 1% of Americans will be able to have access to the natural resources, they want to destroy for the masses leaving 99% to endure the consequences, so it is a model for authoritarianism.
Someone else would of eventually developed a software plarform that literally changed the entire world within a decade but nobody else but Musk would of developed electric cars?
Electric cars existed before Musk, Operating systems that make every function of life easier on the other hand did not
There were a lot of people developing computer operating systems and computers when Gates began Microsoft. And his aggressive, often predatory business practices, put a lot of better software companies in the grave.
Correct, Musk did not invent electric cars. There were several on the market when he got into the business. But he developed one that was something that people actually wanted to buy because it looked good and it performed better than the competition at a competitive price. Now, even though Teslas only account for a small percent of vehicles sold, his company is worth more than Ford and GM combined.
Other people were working on computer operating systems but Microsoft developed something that people could actually use because it performed not only better than the competition but so well that decades later they still dominate the entire global market.
Microsoft led the pack on operating systems, but there was plenty of competition until they (MS) essentially muscled most of it out with aggressive and predatory tactics. And when it came to mainstream software, many competitive products were better than MS’s, but again, they were muscled out. IMO the only mainstream software that MS produced that was exemplary was/is Excell.
