Musk Acquires Twitter

Handy list of people to avoid doing business with, thanks.

They also made noises threatening to pull it from the app store if their moderation demands weren’t met.

What are you failing to understand? Look at current companies making a profit offering online good and services then use your imagination, Musk is good at it.

So changing Twitter into something else?

Most of them still use the platform. Their presence is advertising. They use it to build their brand and as a prebuilt support channel.

Musk should $meter their activity.

Expanding it to include other goods and services, Musk already said he plans to, he wants it to be an everything app.

Sheesh- or just start moderating the worst of it by creating a consistent framework, hire a large team of folks to execute it and be done.

Elon can still handle the close calls and the tough cases involving big public names. But what he is doing is sinking his company.

Those same companies were fine with the previous owners’ lackadaisical attitude toward child exploitation.

Now that 44,000 CE accounts were removed, they’re upset.

The EU too?

They don’t need twitter. Twitter needs those companies.

Free speech is a consistent framework, worked out through our courts over centuries. I don’t know who taught you about advertising but the person with 400 million sets of eyes has the leverage, not the other way around. If they don’t want to advertise, their competitors or Musk himself can and will.

That remains to be seen.

That list of advertisers? They pumped 750 million dollars into Twitter in 2022 alone. That doesnt just get replaced by a whole new slew of companies.

Can you show me where they complained about moderation ignoring child exploitation pre-musk?

Yes along the lines of the Chinese Social Media app WeChat. Now I get what you were referring to about PayPal. My bad on being slow.

So you want a private company in the USA to have that much control? Weird you would want that when in a previous post you talked about your dislike of a few media companies dictating what we watch.

I personally dont have a problem with Twitter being an everything app. I just dont sed it happening anytime soon.

But yet left-wing radicals go after FOX advertisers.

Nope they were fine with that and porn, it’s just that the MAGA unwashed cannot be tolerated.

And vice versa.

I am content to let Musk figure it out and if he loses money, no skin off my back. Fact remains, relying on advertising money and free speech are incompatible. If he is planning on relying on it he isn’t serious about protecting free speech.
