More Americans plan to oppose Trump reelection in recent poll

Why stop at the world; why not the entire universe? Let’s not use exaggeration when hyperbole is available.

Act presidential? What a complete and utter joke.

Donald is a great man, loving father, devoted husband, master diplomat, earnest Christian, selfless leader, and True American. The nation was saved by virtue of his genius and large, capable hands.

Libs will forever hate him for denying them their Venezuelan socialist dystopia.

One thinks you missed “the antithesis of” between Donald is and a great man.

Right now, the lead article on the New York Time website is a story on immigration. The lead on FOX is a story about Bernie Sanders threatening to redistribute income.

You might want to gather some data before you make inferences and allegations. Or is just more fun to make up what you want to believe?

Interesting that this entire discussion has focused on the role of the media and not on the poll results.

Discussions of polling in 2020 will always turn on the assertion that the polls all said Hillary Clinton would win but Trump won so polls that show Trump losing have little credibility. That is an understandable reaction.

Looking back on 2016, the polls actually gave Trump a 1 in 7 to 1 in 8 chance of winning the election; they did not say Hillary would flat out win. Trump threaded that 1 in 8 needle and three narrow victories in the midwest carried him to an Electoral College victory. The polls were right that Clinton would receive roughly 3,000,000 more votes.

I think the interesting question is whether Trump can thread that needle again. Early polling in WI, MI and PA suggests the eye of the needle is much smaller; in contrast Trump is doing well in OH. Today’s polling data suggests TX could be toss-up, in a state where Team Trump would prefer not to spend a lot of time and money.

Trump’s approval rating in the high 30’s also suggests a problem. No modern incumbent has polled better than 8% above his approval rating. If that lands Trump at 45% of the electorate, his only hope will be a third party candidacy pulling the Democratic total down.

Of course this is all way too early to draw firm conclusions. The steady economy, if buttressed by wrapping up some of the trade conflicts could boost his polling.

Anyone want to talk about polls and electoral strategy or is media bashing enough for a Tuesday?

There is not a small chance that Democrats will nominate someone who will make Trump “damn lucky” in 2020, as well.

Luck? I thought it was the Russians. Now he’s extremely lucky.

It’s a bold prediction that Trump will still be there for the 2020 election.

Why is that?

What else do you expect from Fox news and talkradio?

He may not have the wherewithal to perform the duties of the president.

Ah, back to the 25th. If at first you don’t succeed…

So is this the dem plan, lather, rinse, repeat? You guys need a new plan.

I have no allegiance to the Democratic Party. They are far too right for me.

what do you expect from NYT, CNN, msnb psycho c, LA TIMES, NEWSWEEK, TIME, and everyone else that people think is “news”

Ah yes! The convenience of being an outlander!

Fake news, everyone will vote Republican after everyone realizes the Democrats are the Party of criminals for protecting Hillary and Obama’s Deepstate traitors.

Not lies like the Russian collusion! How’s that lie working out for all of you?

Both the Republican and Democratic parties are right of centre.

That must be some good ■■■■■ Here…pass it this way. :sunglasses:
