Those people are dumb. Tyson has a Demi God like body for his age and access to two full decades of boxing knowledge and skill development. Paul’s others fights he did aren’t bad, but it’s not Tyson. In an actual no holds barred match Tyson would mop the floor with him. Best case scenario for Paul is that he would somehow go the distance and lose on points. But I don’t believe he could stand up to a Tyson assault. Other boxers who fought Mike have described it as like getting hit by a truck repeatedly. Even the fighters he lost to like Buster Douglas described it like that.
I don’t know what to make of this fight. Jake Paul has been very strategic in choosing his opponents; largely undersized, past their prime, and all but one were not active professional boxers, which was his one loss. I do give him credit, he’s winning fights and making lots of money. Regarding Jake as a fighter, he does have decent boxing skills and can take a punch based on the degree of fighter he’s fighting. Now someone can say, well he’s never faced anyone like Mike Tyson, but when listening to Steven A Smith he reminded us of Tyson’s last professional fight 20 years ago:
Conditioning is everything in boxing. The older you get, the harder it is to maintain a great level of conditioning. Look at Buster Douglas when he fought Tyson, and then when he fought Holyfield. Clearly Douglas didn’t train for that fight. He just wanted his 25M and be done with it.
Ali at 32 years old looked like he was in the best shape of his life fighting Foreman.
If anyone wants to watch one of the craziest fights ever, Foreman VS Lyle. The closest thing to a Rocky fight you’ll see.
