Sure. As do we though. Because the reality is, as history has proven every single time, no one wins in a trade war. What is ironic though, is how many people who are Trump supporters are cheering this on. They are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Elizabeth Warren and several other Democrats in applauding this move. Where do you stand here? You in favor of the tariffs? Taxation being passed on to working American consumers, businesses, and farmers?
itās not just mexico. Trump has successfully brought all our trading partners together to impose tariffs and trade restrictions against American businesses. Whisky distillers, farmers, Harley Davidson. The list is gonna be giant before this is over.
and i donāt think it will end until Trump is out of office.
hey, one would think youād love the stock market under Obama.
oh, never mind, you got suckered there too.
Iām in favor of balanced trade. Youāve heard me say this over and over. Our economy, thatās been built by previous generations of hard work is being raped and pillaged by politicians and businesses who are allowed to take manufacturing out of the US to another country and then import those goods right back into this one without any financial penalties of an increased tax. The net result is more people on some sort of government assistance, a larger national debt, additional profit from reduced labor costs for the token few, broken homes due to additional financial stress, mass murders, increased youth violence and larger political donations from those who financially benefitted. If there is a negative imbalance of trade between us and another country, there should be tariffs to equalize it.
Looks like the left would get very hungry without the red districts.
So? Who do you think is going to win a trade war the U.S.A. with a nearly $19 trillion dollar GDP or some ā ā ā ā country? Are you a liberal? I ask because they seem to always root against the U.S.
So you support increased taxes on American consumers, businesses, and farmers. You support higher taxes that will lead to lost jobs, higher costs for goods, businesses closing, and a weakening of our economy. And your reasoning is because we import more than we export, as if a trade deficit actually means anything tangible as it relates to our economy, our workers, or the cost of goods? I just donāt know what to say man.
When I go to the gymn, the workout is painful but the end result exceeds the pain. I will suffer for these tariffs both professionally and personally but itās a price Iām willing to pay in the short run for the gain in the long run.
No one wins a trade war. No one. But it is ironic that your chastising people and accusing them of being liberal. When it is YOU that is siding with Elizabeth Warren and a host of liberal Democrats on this issue, all of which applaud the increased taxes that will be levied against American consumers, businesses, and farming communities across the nation. Seems like it is you and your ilk rooting against the US these days.
Thatās just it. There will be no long term gain. The permanent loss of 150,000 jobs. Thousands of businesses will be forced to close. Countless farmers will lose their farms. The cost of virtually all goods will rise, making our economy contract. Poverty levels will rise. We may hasten the rush towards the next recession which is going to happen sooner or later. What long term gain do you think comes from raising taxes?
well, we have 5% of the worldās population. if he continues to alienate everybody then weāre gonna be fighting multiple trade wars.

Speaking of liberals who side with China, Mexico, and Canada ^^^
I disagree. It was painful for the country as manufacturing left and it will be painful during the time that manufacturing is being financially penalized until their returnā¦ifā¦thereās an imbalance of trade?
Standing up to a bully is the right way to stop the bullying. Weak administrations in the past invited other countries to bully us.
Trump is stopping that ā ā ā ā ā Any negative repercussions will be temporary and other countries will adjust their prices until the trade is fair. Trump is Trade Brave⦠not Trade Weak.
Mexico is our #3 market, #1 for many products. $17B in 2016.
Itās a big deal. Not least because of ease of transport.

Mexico is less than .001% of our GDP thatās less than 1/10th of 1%.

mexicoās GDP is 6% the size of the US
its the 15th largest economy in the world
canada is #10
combined they would be #5.
congrats to trump, hes working to shut off US exports to 15% of the world
and if you look at trade deficits as a percentage of total trade our deficit with canada is only 3% of our total trade with them.
with mexico its 13%
starting a trade war with them is stupidā¦
