Disgraced former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe’s lawyer officially sued the Department of Justice this week, claiming the ex-bureau boss was “denied access” to records surrounding his abrupt firing earlier this year.

Attorneys working for McCabe -who was fired in March after a scathing report from the Inspector General- filed the suit in US District Court Tuesday, saying their client was not given access to key material at the heart of the investigation that led to his ouster.

According to Politico, the suit states that the Deputy Director’s removal “violated federal law and departed from applicable administrative rules, standards, policies, and procedures.”

Earlier this year, McCabe turned to the internet to help raise funds for his legal defense, gathering over $500,000 from online donations to take his fight to the Trump administration.
