Mayor Mamdani’s budget plan plunders $ millions from NYC’s treasury for outrageous high salaried diversity roles

February 18, 2026

Even as City Hall describes parts of its spending plan as “actions of last resort,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani is steering millions into an expanding “racial equity” bureaucracy and six-figure diversity positions.

An analysis of the released budget shows the Office of Racial Equity is allocated $5.6 million with a staff of 38; the Commission on Racial Equity is allocated $4.6 million with 16 paid roles; and the Commission on Gender Equity is allocated over $835,000 for an advisory body focused on gender-based equality. In each case the Mayor gets to appoint the highest number to the above mentioned positions.

For the outrageous six-figure salaries of these “diversity” positions see: Mamdani’s $127 billion plan funds new diversity offices as city faces property tax hikes and police cuts:

JWK

Mamdani’s smiley faced Democratic socialism will surely fatten the fortunes of the rats in charge of handing out the “free” government cheese which Mamdani has promised.

Speaking of rats, Boeing who moved their headquarters to Virginia under Youngkin have decided to move back to St Louis under Spanberger.

First casualty of the nutjob Spanberger “Governorship”.

They are not moving employees who seek invitations nor are they increasing employment in St. Louis. The Virginia office remains the same as it ever was. St. Louis office remains same it ever was.

Headquarters!

It also doesn’t change their tax liability

Irrelevant to Spanberger being a two-faced liar to get elected.

Yeah yeah yeah. Two faced liars are only people whom you don’t support

Anyway let’s get back to 11m dollars in diversity offices out of a 127b dollar budget. How much was it in Eric Adams budget?

A better question is why spend this money on these positions just to invite increased scrutiny on the topic of DEI. All this will do is invite the trial bar to seek opportunity to bring law suits under the federal civil rights act against the city in any action with even the appearance that race, gender, creed or nationality was taken into consideration in hiring or contracting.

I like it!!! The dipshiddery of people who were told they could get everything free. Enjoy! And with 5000 fewer police officers, the same people will enjoy more muggings.

Uhm. There are no spoils. That’s the whole point. It was all a smoke screen and empty promises. And I’m enjoying every second of it.

Really? I said long ago that DEI is nothing but an opportunity for law suits under the civil rights act. The trial bar is the trial bar. There are plenty of conservative lawyers and law firms. And more importantly, there are plenty of ambulance chasers who will bring a suit on any topic for a percentage of a settlement. In the case of DEI it has always been a ripe target for civil rights act violations. And a google search will net plenty of cases out there where individuals are bringing cases because of contracting and HR decisions made in the name of diversity. Lawfare is not just the domain of the progressive.

what is this thing you call a mugging.

here is a real mugging

trump spent 2,230,000,000,000 over what was collected in 2025.

yet you complain over a few million that is being spent in NYC.

Allan

I know you are old enough to have taken an old style US Government/Civics class when you were in school. When it comes to money spent by the government, which branch controls the purse strings? The congress spends the money. Presidents, all presidents, come hat in hand to the congress. We aren’t being mugged by which ever president happens to be in office, we are being mugged by the 435 member street gang of grifters gathered down in the capital building.

Lies are lies and Spanberger was a two-faced liar to get elected, e.g:

Undisclosed Financial Trust: The Earle-Sears campaign accused Spanberger of a “calculated lie” for allegedly failing to disclose a trust worth nearly $900,000 on her congressional ethics forms.

Controversial Text Messages: During a heated debate, Earle-Sears called Spanberger a “liar” for her refusal to denounce the Democratic nominee for attorney general, Jay Jones, following the leak of text messages in which he allegedly used violent rhetoric toward a Republican official.

“Moderation” Claims: Critics and opponents argued that Spanberger lied about being a “moderate”. They pointed to her voting record on issues like the Laken Riley Act and border security as evidence that she was more “radical” than her public image suggested.

Why are you defending a two-faced lying Democrat?

In Mamdani’s case, we are seeing the “victor” using power to plunder the people’s treasury, and redistribute its contents into the pockets of his inner circle crowd.

Your adolescent deflection to Trump is noted.

Just like the Americans with Disabilities Act created a lawsuit cottage industry.

  • Scott Johnson: A Sacramento-based attorney and quadriplegic who has filed more than 6,000 lawsuits since 2003 against businesses in California. In 2023, he was sentenced to home detention for failing to report the income he earned from these settlements on his taxes.

  • Howard Cohan: A Florida man who has filed over 1,100 lawsuits against hotels and businesses in Florida. He identifies as an “ADA tester” who searches for technical violations, such as pool lifts or bathroom fixtures that do not meet exact specifications.

  • Orlando Garcia: A Southern California man who has filed hundreds of lawsuits against small businesses, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Albert Dytch: A California man with muscular dystrophy who has filed more than 180 lawsuits, often focusing on accessibility barriers like heavy doors or narrow aisles.

  • Jarek Molski: One of the earliest well-known serial filers, Molski filed roughly 400 lawsuits before a federal judge declared him a “vexatious litigant” in 2004, barring him from filing further suits without prior court approval.

Congress knows exactly what they are doing, and it has become very profitable for some at the expense of American, wage-earning taxpayers.

ahh you are talking aboutlawsuits of private entities for diversity

The city is subject to theee lawsuits with or without a concentration DEI offices or having a DEI program. I hate DEI. But employment rights violation lawsuits aren’t going to change because the city embraces this nonsense.
