Being a lib, of course I don’t understand math by definition, but the S&P has fallen ~480 points from its high this year. Is 480 greater or lesser than 10% of 3,390?
Have all cargo flights out of China been cancelled?
We’re discussing the Dow.
You said no interruption, now it is all? Dance WR dance!
Well anything you order online from China today, 28 Feb, will have an estimated delivery date some time in late April or early May, so you tell me.
Unless there’s an actual drop in volume and shipping times it’s not an interruption.
At worst it would be a delay even if there were no cargo flights out of China.
Gee, and nothing other than air freight services could be causing a delay could it?
You know, like maybe shut down production lines and warehouses because of the epidemic?
Oh, well, then.
The Dow is down ~4,400 points from its peak of 29,560. Is 4400 more or less than 10% of that?
And, of course, the Dow is much less representative than the S&P 500.
Representative how? According to whom?
If it stays for any length of time 10% or more off the 52wk high yes we can call it a correction.
The Dow isn’t even an index…
Wow, tell us something else we already knew!
Gates doesn’t create jobs?
In 5 seconds there will be a Bloomberg commercial come on telling us he does.
You’re wrong. Again.
So then you would know its not considered nearly as representative as say the S&P by anytone who has a clue about investing…
you are not paying attention or googling hard enough.
25,000 fewer flights in and out of china does what to cargo capacity?
Representative of what exactly?
What are the major stock market indexes?
Most investors track the performance of three key stock market indexes:
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI) is the oldest stock market index in the U.S., dating back to the 19th century. It tracks 30 stocks that encompass a wide array of different market sectors, excluding only transportation and utility companies. The manager of the Dow tends to keep its 30 component stocks unchanged for years at a time, replacing companies only when necessary to keep up the index’s reputation of including only stocks of top-quality companies.
- The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) is a broader index that includes about 500 large-company stocks. Its component stocks get replaced much more frequently, as the index attempts to include a representative mix of companies that reflect the overall U.S. economy.
- The Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) is an index of stocks that trade on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Investors often use the Nasdaq as a gauge of the performance of the technology sector, because many of the largest and most influential components of the Nasdaq are tech stocks.
Are you sure you want to keep going down this road?
Then by all means pay attention to him.
You dodged the question. Have all cargo flights out of China been cancelled?
Decouple!
i am sure you know more the the IATA, Boeing, or the logistic analysts who are proving you wrong.
hell just look at Hundai since Korean air stops flying to china. Even airlines like Luftansa freight are now shipping their pilots to sleep in Russia as oppose to China.
google harder!
