The soaring murder rate and unsolved crime spree continued in the United Kingdom’s capital this week, with police officers describing the escalating situation as the “wild west” with fewer than one in twenty robberies ending in arrests.
“Less than one in 20 street robberies and burglaries are being solved in the UK, shocking new figures have revealed,” writes the Daily Mail. “Official police data shows that just four per cent of robberies and three per cent of burglaries were solved in England and Wales in 2017.”
The sharp increase in stabbings and shootings comes as local police departments struggle to contain the escalating violence, which has overtaken New York City’s homicide rate for the first time in recorded history.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has come under fire in recent months over the widening security scandal, blaming “budget cuts” for the city’s rampant crime and unsolved burglaries.
