And in Virginia,
Gov. Youngkin: I’m incredibly appreciative of the rapid response and cooperation from the federal government. The team has been deployed. We had our Declaration of Emergency processed and finalized in an expedited way
Sounds like a better job is being done this time around. I’ve always said they learned a lot from Katrina and then Sandy. Looks like it’s being put into action.
Yes, sorry, I was being somewhat flippant…
I get it. To be fair, there’s plenty of ■■■■ they screwed up to rag on.
The army corps of engineers basically lied about the status of the levees for decades.
This is some low level culture war bull ■■■■ that got you hook line and sinker. Grow up.
The guy who gets shortchanged compared to the assistance his DEI next-door neighbor gets is certainly gonna care.
Maybe moving forward the DEI next door gets the same help as you do. Maybe just maybe that’s the goal.
Stop acting like a teenage princess. There should be no DEI anything on FEMA. Respond to the emergency, take care of the people. No race issues, no gender issues, no nothing. What exactly does ensuring equity mean? That if they’ve rescued 6 straight white people they have to leave the next one stranded until they find a trans, a Hispanic, an AA and a gay (is it okay if the gay is white or will that throw the equity off?)? Its a ridiculous, and meaningless goal to have as a number one “priority”. Does it mean if 20% of who they help are black they have to stop and find a white person to help or black people will be overrepresented in the equity equation?
The Fox News “article” accomplished its mission.
pointing out the stupidity of this administration? Yeah, it sure did
of course the democrat governor says that
Yes. Like that.

I think FEMA has learned some important lessons from the ■■■■ show called Katrina. I think they’ll do a better job this time.
I can tell you from first hand experience after Ian: they still have a long way to go.
Its a news story that some people on social media dug into FEMAs website, browsing past all the pages about Helena assistance and found something to be outraged about?
Fox out to browse this site. You guys would give them a story a day.

of course the democrat governor says that
so you think it’s false? No FEMA, no National Guard?
We are focused on reducing barriers and increasing opportunities so all people, including those from vulnerable and underserved communities, can get help when they need it.
So what’s your beef with this again? It seems to be a plan to PREVENT another Katrina.
so how do you measure it and what do you do if its out of kilter, stop helping people because they don’t meet the DEI requirement? Help is going to be determined largely by location in an event. DEI has nothing to do with it
Oh it’s a never ending struggle. Nature of bureaucracy.
This is a very funny thread considering that the guy who was in charge of FEMA response during Katrina, Micheal Brown, was only there because he gave the Bush campaign a bunch of money.
But sure… DEI is the order of the day so we have to be deeply concerned about that.
Heck of a Job Brownie!

so how do you measure it and what do you do if its out of kilter, stop helping people because they don’t meet the DEI requirement? Help is going to be determined largely by location in an event. DEI has nothing to do with it
Don’t be silly. They’re looking for ways to help MORE people, not fewer people.
