A mayor in Louisiana is prohibiting his government from purchasing any Nike products for the city’s recreational program; the first in the nation to ban the iconic shoemaker after they unveiled a controversial advertisement campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick.

According to Fox News, Mayor Ben Zahn of Kenner, Louisiana signed an executive order last week that says “under no circumstances” could Nike apparel or footwear be “purchased for use” at the city’s recreational facilities.

“Effective immediately all purchases made by any booster club operating at any Kenner Recreation Facility for wearing apparel, shoes, athletic equipment and/or any athletic product must be approved by the Director of Parks and Recreation, or his designee,” the memo added.

The controversial ad came under fire after going viral on social media within minutes of its release, with Americans across the country slamming Kaepernick over his claims he “sacrificed everything” by kneeling during the US national anthem at professional football games.
