July Jobs Report: + 73,000 (less than expected)

What’s kinda scary is that no one around Trump was like, “IDK man. maybe we shouldn’t fire this person just because you didn’t like the numbers.”

If I count right (using twitter data)

  • Since Aug 2023 the jobs number got revised downward 15 times and up only 8.
  • Every adjustment in 2025 was downward.
  • The downward revisions tend to be larger than the upward ones.

Since the BLS already applies a multplier to its raw number, it might make sense for the president to order them to hold meetings and come up with a better multiplier so big revisions stop happening,

(But he didn’t do that, did he?)

This is not a team of rivals. It’s a cabinet of boot-lickers.

The FOMC also lacks diversity.

Tell that to the two members who voted for a rate hike.

Trump always declares what he wants to do by accusing others of doing it.

He wants someone of his own to massage the numbers in his favor, of course.

So the next jobs report can’t be trusted …. Right?

And risk a face full of ketchup?

Dear Leader’s thought process. Don’t question Dear Leader.

Trump on weak jobs report: I don’t believe those numbers. I think because we’re doing so well and we fired her… we want straight numbers. I was thinking this morning when I saw the numbers, I said, who makes these numbers anyway? And when I checked, I said, this person is very suspect to me.

Trump loved the job number two months ago … from the same person he fired today.

I think the big story today (the reason Trump fired Dr. McEntarfer) was because of the big downward revisions.) “Downward revisions make me look bad.”

That does not excuse what he did.

  • BLS under her leadership, had big downward revsions in 2023 and 2024. So, this is not a partisan thing

  • In fact, at that time, many cons said that was a conspiracty to make the sitting president look GOOD! (Loudly announce good numbers and then revise downward all sneaky sneaky like.)

I will not try to defend Donald Trump on this.
He will NOT be getting my vote next time, and that’s final!

Manufacturing down 11?

Even more concerning: Job gains for May and June were revised down by a whopping 258,000, portraying a much weaker labor market than believed in late spring and early summer and raising the odds the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates in September.

The unemployment rate rose from 4.1% to 4.2%, the Labor Department announced on Friday, Aug. 1.

MAGAnomics?

I’m supposed to read threads by someone who posted during the Biden Administration? No thanks.

Don’t like the numbers? Just fire the person releasing them. Then, you get to make up your own.
