I’m not totally sure what is going on here, but I stumbled across this transcript and found it riveting. I think the judge is pissed that the NJ fed office is still being run by the people that have been found illegally apointed?
Also, the prosecutors signed a plea deal that is 1/3 the usual time for child porn, partially because they didn’t have all the evidence in front of them when they did the deal. And now, even after more victims were uncovered, they don’t seem to be interested in charging the bastard with more crimes.
Is this just some kind of power play by the Habba team to exert legitimacy by closing cases?

CSAM is a weird crime in terms of prosecution. It’s difficult to explain. When arrested the people usually confess hat in hand. It’s treated almost like an addiction sometimes by prosecutors. That’s why you sentences ranging from probation to life.
The above is not a judgement call on CSAM just how they are handled by prosecution and investigators.
haven’t read the story and not commenting on this case or this crime. Just a general opinion. If the judge wants to be a prosecutor, they should resign and become a prosecutor. Same general principle I have for judges who want to set policies, if they want to be politicians, they should resign and run for office. We have a basic problem with judges overstepping their article 3 powers and nothing short of impeachment that can be done about it.
