I loved Newt, he was just as flawed as Trump if not moreso. The idea that a Newt supporter would leave the party because of Trump is ludicrous. I left it, because of the McCain’s and Romney’s. If that makes you feel better, have at it. However you approval doesn’t change reality, neither does what you can wrap your mind around. If not being a Trump supporter means I can no longer be a Republican, then I am proudly no longer a Republican. That does not mean I am a leftist or a Democrat. It means I no longer have a party that espouses or lives by the ideals I hold, and I don’t feel like compromising those for the sake of political power.

Sure, if you choose to ignore the work of Dick Armey and the 397 Republicans that signed it and then worked to bring it to fruition, some of which were staking their political carriers on the issues brought up by the contract. Compare that to now, where they don’t care what they espouse, as long as they praise everything the current president does so they can keep in power.
