I disagree. Placing the well-being of their lives and the lives of their families makes them human. People that we all should have have empathy for, and not be calling callous names.
That does not mean our asylum processes do not need to be revised and fixed to become more efficient.

Where does the article say anything about open borders? Tulare County is in Central CA, nowhere near the border. An article linked to it mentions runaways, not immigrants. And how is it that there is more trafficking in NY, which is nowhere near the border?
Bottom line, the article in the OP does not even suggest a linkage of human trafficking to borders or sanctuary cities.
