Is this a clear cut case of self-defense?

Yepp. Center mass. Don’t aim for extremities. That can not only get one killed because they’ll likely miss, but if someone does manage to “disable” them with an arm or leg shot it will only get you sued into oblivion and possibly behind bars.

I hear ya. Sad for everyone left behind.

Well, the self defense portion seems clear but firing rounds into the air seems a clear case for a charge of negligent discharge of a firearm to me. Folks, warning shots are great in theory but in practice, just shoot the perp. Warnings can be verbal. That said, opening the door is a really stupid idea. You have no idea what this guys intentions are, whether or not he’s armed, whether or not he has friends… stay in the house, call the police, if he tries to enter, shoot him. JMO of course, they had every right to defend their property IMO. (At least in Texas, I have no idea what the rules are for Minnesota)

I thought Joe Biden said people should aim for the legs?

Joe Biden is an idiot. I wouldn’t take his advice on anything.
