The 2019 simulations assumed that US fought Russia or China individually, but now Russia is certain to get major support from China in a hot war with NATO.
The choice for NATO will be a conventional defeat or thermonuclear annihilation.
You do know that those types of simulations are intentionally designed to promote the military industrial complex right? They have to justify every year why they need new weapon systems. So the US must be seen as easily beatable with currently existing weapons in the world so that the MIC gets new programs approved.
In reality, a war between China and the US would be a bloodbath for both sides.
You realize that the only people who get promoted in the Pentagon and intel agencies are the ones who tell leaders what they want to hear. Explaining that F-35s would be destroyed on the ground by Russian missiles is not something that the Pentagon wanted to hear since it basically is a tacit admission that the trillion-dollar program has been way oversold. It is surprising that Rand was allowed to release the results.
The same bozos in Washington who planned last summer’s disastrous Ukrainian counteroffensive are the ones in charge of planning war with Russia now. As the saying goes: Garbage in, garbage out . . .

no worries, in the event that Russia attacks NATO rest assured we will not leave the world to China. The first act in the war will be to glass it.
