Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023 Movie)

I saw Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Saturday, and I may be in the minority of people of actually liking the movie. I don’t understand all the hate for this movie.

I enjoyed the action scenes. I thought they were decent. I also liked some of the humor in the film. It’s great to see Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones for the last time.

There were some issues with the movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and looked forward to seeing it again soon. I think it’s a decent send-off for Indiana Jones.

I recommend everyone to see this movie. I give it a grade of an B+.

ENJOY!

My wife and I will be seeing this as soon as it hits the local theaters. We still remember fondly seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark when in came out in 1981 and loving it.

Raiders is so good. And it feels like a modern movie today.

They got so much right with Raiders. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time.

I’ll admit that my opinions of the other films of the franchise are mixed. I love Raiders. I really like The Last Crusade. Not the biggest fan of the Temple of Doom. Really didn’t care for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I’ll watch Dial at some point. But I’m tepid about it. Mainly because of the studio that developed it. Modern Lucasfilm under Kathleen Kennedy ruined Star Wars. So I don’t exactly trust them.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is a perfect example of why you should not go into any Indiana Jones films with any sort of expectations. They’re all just as cheesy, unrealistic, and fun, in their own way.

I went to Dial of Destiny on Friday…The movie got a big round of applause from the folks in the theater. You don’t get that very often. I really enjoyed it…

On some days Raiders is my favorite movie of all time.

With all the bad reviews, I expected it to be bad, but instead I loved it. It’s like seeing the original.

It can get a bit tedious because it’s like riding a roller coaster for 2.5 hours, but it ends up great.

I saw it in IMAX. See it that way if possible.

Yeah, I loved the first one, but the rest reminded me of Rambo sequels. I may have liked one other, I forget which.

I don’t get what there is to hate about an Indiana Jones movies, especially with all the crap hitting the theatres these days.

Haven’t been to a movie since Top Gun Maverick but i will go to this one.

I never trust reviews. They sometimes spout out crap just to feel relevant.

I used to watch Siskel and Ebert. I could always tell what movies I would probably like by the ones Siskel didn’t like.

Yup.

There also is a bias against just a fun movie. Not everything needs to be deep, with layered meaning and social relevance.

To be fair, Dial of Destiny has reasonably good reviews:

The pre-release buzz was pretty negative - but the reviews have all been “it’s pretty good!”

The one with Sean Connery I thought was good.

That was the worst one after the Crystal Skull one, in my opinion.

This is what like the 4th or 5th sequel from Raiders of the Lost Ark?

So probably tough to get everyone extra excited here…

I noticed a low production cost movie called Sound of Freedom beat it out on July 4th.

And that one has some major disadvantages in having only probably half the theaters to see it in now.

I have not seen either, but am curious if anyone here has seen both of them yet and will provide a constructive review of them in comparison.
