Robert Nathaniel (The Bear) Hampton was called home by the Lord today. He wasn’t a famous man, except to his family and friends. He was a Marine, a Vietnam Veteran, an Army Military Police Sergeant, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and for close to 44 years my best friend. We were Brothers in Arms. We ran towards the danger, confident that we would be at each other’s side when it counted most. We stood by each other through challenges, success and setbacks, both in and out of the service. We watched each other’s children grow to adulthood and have children of their own. We might not talk for months, but when we did, it would be for hours, remembering the past, and catching up on what was new. They say what goes on the internet stays forever. May my memory of my best friend do just that. Semper Fi my brother, we will see each other again. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away, Blessed is the name of the Lord.
I invite anyone who wishes to post a memory of someone important in their life that has been called home to the Lord to do so.
Sorry to hear that…I too lost couple very close friends over the last 4 years. One Collapsed in the store that I have taken him too little over a year ago. I was with him till the end when paramedics put their hand on my shoulder and said you need to allow us to do our work.
As I have said before, the depth of our grief is directly proportional to the blessing the one we have lost was in our life… I will grieve for him until I see him again.
You will remember the good times…and even some off the cuff comment he had said that will get you laughing.
Gregg who lost his licenses so I was his Chauffeur. I remember he left something back at the barn so I shoved the vehicle in reverse and backed up real quick to retrieve it…he said something like you drive better backwards then you do going forward…LOL ■■■■■■■■ I remember that every time I drive in reverse.
Indeed she was. I lost her 8 years ago. I miss our conversations, which was interesting, as she was a born again Chrisian, and I am agnostic. We had some great conversations.
