With all the endless debates over The Wall and the Shut Down, why is no one discussing the Import Duty increases with much more intensity? My questions:
- What due diligence went into raising typical duties from 2-4% to 25%, where did this number come from?
- Has anyone who imports goods think duties are negotiable once the government imposses them? HAs anyone responded can we pay 15%?
- I am not sure how much year over year income the increased duties have generated 2017 to 2018 but I assume billions of dollars. Why do we not ear tag that money for The Wall? Healthcare?
This money goes into the General Fund, so if you want to drain the swamp, apply that money to something of substance and show everybody your plan. People will support that behavior and many issues will be resolved.
