Impeachment Bump? Turley Was Right-Opinion Piece

Oh, so Fox is a valid source now?

Confirmation bias becomes the Bible when it comes from the enemy’s news source.

That’s not enough information. Who are the denied witnesses? The content of that list has a large bearing on whether or not it was unfair to deny those witnesses.

If, for example, Republicans wanted to call the Bidens, the Obamas, and the Clintons, then it’s appropriate for the minority to be laughed out of the room, and doesn’t support Turley’s argument.

This guy is an expert with a list of credentials that would reach the floor. He has no excuse for writing such a sparse article.

I don’t care if you like it or not, it was provided.

If you want every detail spelled out for you write Turley a letter and see if he responds.

Yep- we’ve been through this already.

Turley gave the Democrats an opening.

They were either too much in a hurry or too wedded to their own experts to listen.

They should have issued the subpoenas to the key witnesses and then let it go through the courts system. They would have had a lot stronger case regardless of which way it all turned out.

In the meantime other evidence, like today’s revelation that the aid to the Ukraine was frozen 91 minutes after the call to Zelensky, would have leaked out and continued to leak out.

I agree.

But under the assumption that the Senate will never convict, this could be a good move. There was no need to wait for those subpoenas as long as Democrats established a sworn, evidence-based account with phone records that would be sufficient for the electorate to see corruption in Giuliani’s diplomacy schemes.

If Democrats waited, there was a risk that the President’s propaganda machine could desensitize the public till they all reach Mulvaney’s “So what?” position.

By the time Mueller’s report came out, for example, everyone forgot how many lies were told about the Trump tower meeting, so nobody cared when they read about the truth in the report. Public expectations rise faster than the likely results of these investigations the longer they go on. Giuliani taking the 5th–then litigating if he’s allowed to take the 5th for weeks–is enough time for the administration to inoculate the public to whatever he eventually says.

Democrats have enough now to convince anyone who isn’t actively looking for a technicality that exonerates the President. They can strike like lightning with this, and then just let the public wonder why nobody was willing to vouch for the president under oath.

Even his supporters acknowledge the reality that every sworn testimony by a member of the administration is a perjury trap. For them, it’s a “win” if their side avoids the trap. The rest of the electorate might have a different opinion on that.

A “high” crime or misdemeanour for a politician would need to be a crime or misdemeanour that exceeded the bar set by similar actions accepted in other cases by one’s political peers? Otherwise, it would be a crime or misdemeanour that passed under the bar set by one’s political peers, and therefore not “high”.

Limbo dancers don’t out jump other limbo dancers.

What is Trump alleged to have done that other politicians in the main resile from ever doing themselves?

This Senate hearing could turn out to be the " Harper Valley PTA" of politics for the Dems.

this is no surprise:

Everyone from a senator down to a school principal would end up in jail immediately if they conditioned allocated public money on personal favors.

Trump actually gets more leeway than usual because he’s the president so he can claim that he’s making foreign policy.

That leeway evaporated when contradicting testimony came out (Sondland), admissions of guilt from staff come out (Mulvaney), concerns were reported to the appropriate authorities (Everyone who consulted lawyers on the ethics of the the situation, or filed whistleblower complaints), corroborating evidence came out (phone records of administration associates), and unusual suspicious activity to cover it all up happened (improper classification).

The Dimbulb leftists have been adamant to “impeach the President by Christmas”. Well they did (sort of) and dropped the pile of excrement in the Speaker’s lap then went home to feast on whatever holiday gruel fits their fancy.
Pelosi is doing her best shimmy sham and sitting on this debacle because she believes she can “indefinitely” with hopes of McConnell capitulating to Schumer’s want of the “fab four witnesses”!
I swear this impeachment thingy is playing out like some Shakespearean Comedy/ Tragedy!
Oh Romeo, Romeo Et tu Brute’

And don’t forget the timeline that is now coming out from the documents just released by FOIA paper dump.

July 19…Trump asks about Ukraine aid after learning about it in a news report

July 25 91 minutes after the Trump/Zelensky call, OMB director Duffy calls the Pentagon to suspend the aid, letting them know he’s got this from Mulvaney and telling them all to “keep it quiet” because “it’s sensitive”.

Duffy and Mulvaney, of course, were barred from testifying by President Trump. Can’t imagine why.

Holee dogpile, the Prez should have just wrote a check without a care what bureaucrats skim off the top for themselves like his predecessors! We wouldn’t be in this sheet storm uh huh?
I know I could care less the Federal goobermint sends my tax dollars overseas to be distributed to whatever corrupt organization is running these banana republics!
That’s why America is loved so much around the world right?

Exactly why Shokin was forced out by the EU, the US, and the Ukrainian government.

There was a right way to go about doing the Burisma investigation. The President just decided extortion and cover-up was easier. He made the storm.

Not personal. The country benefits from keeping Biden out of the White House.

Here’s the big take away from the article.

“ In the 15 closest states of the 2016 election, where the presidential contest was decided by 8 or fewer points, Trump’s in even better shape. None of the Democrats led in CNN’s December poll.”

There was nothing wrong with his actions.

Biden left a trail of corruption even a dolt like Trump had to see what was actually there…we still don’t know.

Giuliani isn’t on trial.

There was nothing wrong with his actions, yet most of the people involved with them felt like they needed to cover their asses in some manner. That might work in court, but won’t work with the public, who overwhelmingly believe that the president has done something wrong, even if they don’t support impeachment by the same margin.

Biden’s “trail of corruption” goes cold pretty fast.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) said an investigation was ongoing into permits granted by officials at the Ministry of Ecology for the use of natural resources to a string of companies managed by Burisma.

But it said the period under investigation was 2010-2012, and noted that this was before the company hired Hunter Biden.

“Changes to the board of Burisma Limited, which are currently the object of international attention, took place only in May 2014, and therefore are not and never were the subject of (the anti-corruption bureau’s) investigation,” the bureau’s statement said.

When the offenses took place is irrelevant. Joe took control of US Ukraine Policy in 2014 and Hunter was “hired” shortly thereafter.

Burisma’s atty’s started petitioning the new prosecutor to drop all of their investigations immediately upon Shokin being removed.
