Ilhan Omar and Somali history

Ilhan Omar has called for shutting down police and ending the entire US economy and political system. My observation is that ending police, the economy, and the government has been tried in her homeland of Somalia, and the results have been dismal.

Based on Ilhan Omar’s logic, Somalia should be a paradise. The are no evil White people so there is no systemic racism. There has been little or no police force for decades, and there are no evil corporations earning profits.

The reality is just the opposite. Immigration has not been a problem since everyone who can is leaving the country. 73% of the population lives in extreme poverty with a per capita GDP of only $348 per year.

Somalia has had no functioning central government, no police, and a barely functioning economy; the country continues to be embroiled in a civil war that has gone on for more than 30 years. Estimates are 500,000 people have died in the conflict. The life expectancy is only 53 years.

Why would Ilhan Omar want to bring the misery of Somalia to the US?

Is there any reason to believe conditions in America would improve if we followed Somalia’s lead?

For background here are links to a summary of conditions in Somalia and a video of Omar talking about her proposed changes for America:

Somali is a capitalist dream no government or laws.

Fun thing about somali You could at one point buy share of a pirate crew and get a percentage of the profits.

Good question. I suspect it is because she purely hates America.

This is what Omar said:

“As long as our economy and political systems prioritize profit without considering who is profiting, who is being shut out, we will perpetuate this inequality,” Omar said. “We cannot stop at criminal justice system. We must begin the work of dismantling the whole system of oppression wherever we find it.”

Not exactly her calling for the US to be like Somalia.

That last line is going to need some details though.

What does dismantling the whole system mean to you?

Should only black people be profiting? What the ■■■■ does that mean… “considering who is profiting”? Or does she just mean it’s all about the Jews and the benjamins like she’s so eloquently stated in the past?

Somali is arguably a progressive paradise.

There is no Islamophobia since the country is over 99% Sunni Muslim. Christianity is a tiny minority and exists only in secret, which is certainly the dream of many progressives. The tiny Christian minority face execution if they are exposed:

cersei is a weird one.

The whole system of oppression.

Who the ■■■■ is being oppressed and exactly how so?

Somalia certainly does not have the US “system of oppression”. How are things working there?

Another positive thing about ALL nonwhite countries is that they don’t have “White Privilege”. That fact by itself must make all majority nonwhite countries much better than predominantly majority white countries.

Which comes first to those oppressed, the money or getting off of your butt?

What is a system of oppression?

That’s very vague.

She was making a general statement, not a specific one.

They have other more drastic problems.

It seems that all too often when people leave somewhere because it has serious problems, they move to a new home host country and then attempt to set up a small version of the place they just left. They don’t assimilate among the new, they attempt to change it to their old way of life that wasn’t working.

Which is what exactly? America?

Actually many immigrants come to the US because they value the economic and political freedom that was lacking in their home country.

Ilhan Omar is certainly not that way. Her objective appears to be to make America more like Somalia even though it is one the poorest and most violent places on earth.
