people who are sustained by the state will always support the ones who sustain them. that’s why (in part) people on welfare should not be allowed to vote.
Agreed, and I’ll be honest, I don’t think Military members should be able to vote either, because I don’t think any government employee/official should be allowed to vote.
There are many levels of sustained but that’s not even the fun part. The fun part is that republicans win all the time even with people who are in part sustained by the government.
oof. that’s a new one. i’ll have to think about that one.
of course i have seriously thought about only those who own property can vote…. if you dont have a stake in outcome then cant vote. not sure how i still feel about that
The sheer amount of money being wasted on absolute CRAP is more than enough to feed all of us our daily steak.
Ideally, we should ALL be getting fed (good food!) daily steaks for the amount of CRAP we have to live with thanks to a bunch of power hungry, socially disconnected weirdos who are living at literally everyone else’s expense.
I get the appeal but that’s been tried before. The French tried it with the Active-Passive citizen idea. To be an active citizen you had to be a property owner and pay so much per year in taxes. It ended with people getting their heads cut off because it wasn’t representative enough at all. The San Cullotte decided they weren’t passive citizens and launched the insurrectionary commune over it. And when they got the franchise through insurrectionary means they immediately voted in the worst excesses of the people who would later pull off the Terror. Guys like Marat got elected. Which was a terrible thing.
I like the system of one citizen gets one vote. Their other aspects don’t matter. If you are a verified citizen, you get to vote. For better or for worse.
