If NATO membership for Ukraine was a known bright red line for Russia, why did Biden promote it?

The Minsk agreement included actions to protect the rights of people in Donetsk and Luhansk and for Russian-speakers thoughout the country as outlined in a note from the agreement:

The State Department admits that Ukraine has is far from fully implementing the steps required:

"I think it’s fair to say, looking back, that many of those steps Ukraine has either implemented or begun to implement; there are some that haven’t yet been tackled,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told VOA during his last visit to Kyiv “I think, unfortunately, it’s equally fair to say that Russia has done virtually nothing in terms of the steps required in the Minsk agreement.”

Did the US expect Russia to withdraw aid the separatists with ongoing violations of the cease fire and without the required reforms?

The US and Ukraine demanded that agreement be renegotiated.

Today, most Ukrainian experts and former officials believe the Minsk agreements must be renegotiated.

”The circumstances changed significantly, so the Minsk agreements are no longer the political decisions that can be used. They need to be totally renegotiated and maybe with a different group of negotiators,” said Valeriy Chaly, who was a member of the original Ukrainian delegation to Minsk.

Why would anyone expect Russia to withdraw troops from an incursion that they created?

The Minsk accord is dead at this point.

Eight years of simmering war in Donbas was one reason why we have full-scale invasion now.

Yeah… Putin killed it.

Didn’t NATO basically overthrown a dully elected Ukrainian leader?

Are we talking about Yanukovich?

Go ahead and say that election was fraught with allegations of electoral fraud etc. When the election was free and fair by international observers.

After all…it’s all you got.

No the people of Ukraine overthrew him, he then fled to Russia, and then Russia invaded Ukraine.

Nope… I won’t say that.

Yanuklovich was a Putin Proxy who was thrown out when he went against the wishes of the majority and aligned with Russia instead of Europe.

Still waiting on the thing where NATO overthrew him.

I think I know what is going to be brought up next ( the Nuland call) and if one reads that transcript they were talking about how to keep the Party of Regions from retaking power or even worse… having Neo Nazis in charge.

Got to keep reminding people that Russia is clearly the aggressor.

And you bought that propaganda?

Are they? Or have you been conditioned into thinking that? Inquiring minds want to know.

I’m sure they’ll go back in their box after the war if Ukraine wins.

Yes. They invaded in 2014 when their boy got kicked out.

One must make an argument that a sovereign nation has no right to associate with which ever nation they wish within the World Order but must always acquiesce to the demands of their larger neighbor to believe that Ukraine had no right to determine it’s own relationship with the EU or NATO.

Have the local magistrate arrest them?

I’ve heard that before…

braveheart magistrate

Where’s the propoganda?

So justifying overthrowing a dully elected president is OK?

I did not have “Defending Yanukovich” on my right wing grievance Bingo card.

NATO did overthrown a dully elected president just because he was pro-Russian. The people voted for him and according to international observers it was free and fair election.
