An article I read in the newspaper said he was wearing one, but that video has not been released yet. Why he was also recording with his phone is anyone’s guess, but I suspect that he was planning on posting it in social media to show how flagrantly ridiculous that woman was acting instead of complying with police commands.

Personally, I think that she didn’t intend to hit him and didn’t think that she was going to hit him. Her attitude just before punching out of there was mocking defiance, not anger. (Why she left without her wife though, is a mystery.) It really doesn’t matter though. The only thing that matters is whether or not it was reasonable for Ross (the officer) to believe that his life was imminently threatened. That is the basic test for the justified use of lethal force. Not what observers think … what he thought.

The idea that he was clowning around with his phone camera prior to the shooting, and the fact that he called her a b- after doesn’t speak well for him IMO.

I think he thought he had great video content proving some kind f point, absentmindedly stepped in front of the car, looked down from his phone to see the car moving toward him, and he freaked out.

What he called her afterwards only goes to support the contention that he believed that she tried to run him over. Thanks for pointing that out.

I agree, And given the reaction by every other law enforcement on scene at the time it was demonstrated that it was not reasonable to believe there was an imminent threat of death. They stood by calmly, not even bothering to unholster their weapons. Byrd’s fears were based entirely on rumors that he heard about things that had (and had not) occurred elsewhere in the building nowhere close to him and certainly NOT in front of him. That was clearly unreasonable. Shooting her was akin to shooting a stranger who rings your doorbell because someone elsewhere in town was killed by a stranger ringing their doorbell. It’s unreasonable.

The same can be said of the Good shooting.

Yep, it can be. But reasonable people are saying it was reasonable for him to fear for his life whether his life was actually in danger or not. The same cannot be said about Byrd.

Yes, we can see that. But at the moment she took off, the wheels were slightly to the left meaning that the car launched directly towards officer Ross. At that instant, his perception was that he was going to be hit.

At that instant he was focusing on getting some tic-toe content and not doing his job.

His job was to find and arrest illegal immigrants. Ms, Good interfered with that job.

I firmly believe Trump wouldn’t be getting as much push back on deportation if he tamped down the rhetoric and scaled back the tactics.

The Supreme Court has denied the right of the administration to use the national guard unless they can show it is necessary including the lack of help by police. How do you expect that to be documented if actions,on the ground are not recorded.
