I did NOT see this coming....FBI: Thousands of remote IT workers sent wages to North Korea to help fund weapons program

Pretty dam clever of North Korea. In a way you have to admire how they were able to implement this and carry it out.

I was stunned to read this. I had always thought that NK’s could only come to the US on refugee status.

Duh, never mind. I had read a different article that omitted the details in the Op’s.

They did not even come to the US.
They were remote workers, trained by N Korea to work as IT workers specifically to make big paychecks so Pyonyang could make some money.

Yeah, I read a “developing” story on this about an hour ago. It didn’t have the details your posted article has. Damn, it’s so diabolical, like a bad dystopian novel.

…and when is it…our “intelligence” agencies figured this out? Was it before or after they concluded Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation? The longer I live, the more disappointed I’m becoming in our agencies that I am supposed to trust.

They obviously haven’t learned from history. After 9-11 we were often visited at work by members of one intelligence agency or another demanding access to the exchange server which inevitably resulted in one or two people of Afghani and or Pakistani origins being escorted out and given a ride in the back of a black SUV, never to be seen at work again.

Why they would assume it would stop or not be attempted by other hostile nation-states is beyond me.

Private employers.

As if nobody saw fraud skyrocketing with this brilliant, “LeT’s Do eVeRYtHinG onLinE noW!1!”

This is because our education system is not producing the high skilled workers we need. Many schools would much rather focus on gay and trans issues and call math racist. Because that’s easier than teaching and they still get paid anyway…

Especially true at the college level.

Note the professor of (ahem) American studies and her recent tweet below:

Wow…corrupt FBI actually going after real threats to this country rather than going after their political opponents. That’s a shocker.

Yes, I spend a lot of time at Cal Campuses and they are much more into diversity than academics.
They even lower standards when they don’t have the graduation rates of each chosen category they want.
That’s a very dangerous game when the future or our country depends on programming and other countries are still whacking kids hands who mess up on their math and don’t do their homework…

The Soviet Union was never that poor.
