I wasn’t arguing for no governmental involvement. Just asking about this particular law and its affect on citizens. Are they more or less free because of it?
If you don’t want your kids to see a drag show, just don’t take them to one.

Quit bringing them to the schools. That’s the issue.
Why must their audience be children? Why are they fighting for their audience to be children?
Are you more or less free because you can’t beat your children? Ever hear the (very) old saying “Your wife, your dog, a hickory tree, the more you beat them the better they be”? You just don’t have the legal option to do that today (except for the hickory tree). Are you less free?
You might as well drop that line and just stick to is it good or bad to take little kids to certain types of entertainment, especially sexually oriented entertainment.

The previous counselor should be blacklisted to never work in a school again. Anywhere.
