The Prime Minister of Ireland is about to retire. He visited the White House for a St. Patrick’s day celebration. I looked at the photo of their meeting and saw that Prime Minister Varadkar presented a bowl of shamrocks to the president.

Thoughts of leprechauns and Clint Eastwood aside, I am drawn to a quote from Nietzsche: “No victor believes in chance.”
