HOOT! Time to Celebrate! US Federal Debt just passed $100,000 per citizen!

Yay!!
Hip Hip Hooray!!

It’s an historic occasion!!!

Where were you when the Space Shuttle Exploded?
Where were you when the Towers fell?

Where were you when a family of five was a half million dollars in debt when baby number 3 was born?

Here is some historical perspective:

Gross Federal Debt is now 119% of GDP
slightly higher than it was after we funded WW2
following the Great Depression.

The greatest generation thought it would be a good idea to pay it down so they did.
But . . .
They had a few things going for them

  • They were the greatest generation, we are not.
  • They had post-war booms in autos, steel, and construction, we do not.

It would be more painful to do it this time. Maybe we should just ignore it and see what happens.

Not to worry.
The drunken saylors spending like crazy have a solution.
When the shizutcky hits the fan they will erase the Debt, throw a coin/marker into the Debt box, the rich are prepared so they will survive and the poor are already at the bottom, it will be the Middle class that will lose and end up dumpster diving.
And the Gov…??? They’ll point at each other and blame the other guy.
Most outrages will be watching the Left blame Founding Fathers and Constitution and declare it failed experiment.
Yet they are the drunken saylor spending us into oblivion.
This is how I see it, why there is no urgency to fix it and why it looks like there is so much corruption in Gov. where all of them hurry to grab as much as they can.
IMHO… :face_with_diagonal_mouth: :face_exhaling: :face_exhaling: :face_exhaling:

No guarantee he actually said this but . . .

The good news?
If we balance the budget tomorrow then

Owing $400,000 in long-term debt per family of 4
is no different having a $400,000 mortgage
(well except in this case, you don’t get a house, you get the happy knowledge that people ten years ago got their social security checks and windmill companies got their windmill checks, etc…)

That’s the good news.
If we balance the budget tomorrow it is not worse than that.
The bad news is
we’re not going to balance the budget tomorrow so, it’s gonna be worse than that.

Debt schmedt!

Can you your 4 year old get the sex change they need??

ukraine needs a new pair of F-35s.
