Here is what I believe Trump is doing

True…even though I think Americans are eating lot more rice. But from my understand it’s easy crop to grow.

It’s incredibly hard.

Another good day for the heart. Thanks, Trump!

Huh?

Never grown rice, I just know they have to flood the fields at some point.

Yes. And then unflood them, then flood them.

I see, that would mean storing and diverting water. And that’s not allowed here in America.

Water is definitely an issue. We had to buy allotments.

The EU got way too used to that especially during the Obama and Biden years.

But they really didnt they. Such a stupid thing to say.

I get it, when Trump runs around insulting other countries it makes Maga feel warm and fuzzy inside but that does not mean previous admins “kissed ass”:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Watch and learn…Europe will make concessions on buying more military hardware for their defense.

We’ll see. The regime has gone out of its way to antagonize Europe. Why would they buy from us when they can manufacture their own?

I could see them buying on a short-term basis while they spin up their own industries but, I doubt this is going to be a windfall.

I do agree with you that Trump is stupid enough to tank the American economy in some half baked attempt to juice up an industry. After all, there’s a lot of grift and corruption to be had.

No, not at all.

They invented a new metric - possibly by asking Chat GPT or another AI engine - to measure ‘trade imbalance’ or some such nonsense.

That became our blanket tariff.

I know that sounds crazy, but it’s true.

In no way are they reciprocal.

Countries that levy single digit or maybe 10% tariffs on us received 30-45% tariffs.

Countries that couldn’t possibly buy any meaningful amount of stuff from us like Ireland and Madagascar received huge tariffs.

It’s nuts.

If the administration has a concern with the EU, why put 49% tariffs on Madagascar and Viet Nam?

I don’t see that as a bad thing…do you?

Though Trump’s tariffs take into accojnt the trade imbalance between our nations…so same same

I think that’s one of the few things I really have a hard time with concerning Trump. His bedside manner is atrocious.

Vietnam says now they can pick up the slack of China and lower tariffs to zero…not seeing a problem here.
I remember seeing lots of products from Vietnam before China took control of our goods…and the quality may not have been great but better than China’s?

One problem is, VN isn’t large enough to replace china.

Another problem is, depending on who you listen to in the administration, thee tariffs are happening regardless of what other countries say…or maybe not! No one seems to know.

The folks on teh sunday circuit said they were happening no matter what. Trump seems to indicate he was open to negotiating them away.

No one seems to know.
