But also true is that most forms of social media are not remotely suitable for having discussions … and there are virtually no rules of decorum. Discussing politics on those outlets is just asking for abuse. That’s why most people don’t like it.
Coincidentally I just got flamed by some guy on twitter.
(it’s weird because my twitter posts almost never attract that sort of neanderthal but it did now. . . and the next thing I read was your post.)
The majority of memes posted here are ■■■■■ Dont get offended but too many of you are ■■■■■■■ cringeworthy when it comes to memes.
Funny thing is I can remember several years when the mods of the time were not allowing memes because they suddenly became concerned that the site would be sued over copyright infringement. I said at the time that would never happen and it didn’t but now seeing what passes for memes on this site today from the majority of posters I wish I had been wrong .
As was demonstrated by the last series of Meme Threads, too many people had to be policed time and time again for the filter bypasses. The mediocre meme flooding that became the norm also stole magic from what was/still is the most liked/popular threads in the forum’s history.
If you want another one of those, you’ll have to convince a mod that it’s even worth their time.
Being diplomatic here after a five day time out for “excessive combativeness”, I miss memes. Memes add a certain savoire faire to posts and most are genuinely funny.
But they dont, I can appreciate a good meme taking the piss out of anything, anyone or any topic but the majority are just not funny.
A lot are just reposts from Babylon Bee which at times can be very creative but they post so much a lot is just slop.
Now if someone attempts to create their own meme, then bravo but again the vast majority (pretty much99%) never create their own memes and just copy and paste.
I dont post memes because a) the types of memes i find funny others find offensive and b) I am crap at memes .
