Portland’s mayor recently sent a letter to President Trump. The letter rejects any use of the National Guard to end riots in Portland:
Yet again, you said you offered to aid Portland by sending in federal law enforcement to our city.
On behalf of the City of Portland: No thanks.
While Trump has been criticizing the decision of the mayor and Democrat governor to reject using the national guard and federal agencies to end the riots, he continues to wait for them to change their decision instead of acting unilaterally.
Waiting them out helps Trump in two important ways. First it demonstrates that Trump is not acting like a dictator, which a common charge from Democrats. Second it places the blame for the continued violence squarely on the shoulders of Democrats. Trump has every reason to be patient and allow Democrats to reap what they have sown.
At what point will Democrats realize that continued rejection of the national guard is costing them the election?
Will they eventually reverse course? Or are they so committed to support for Antifa/BLM that they cannot admit the obvious truth?
People are getting smashed with bills while the GOP moves on stingy aid proposals at the speed of a glacier. I doubt these folks are wasting their energy thinking about a few streets in Portland. They’re waiting for the sheriff to knock on their door.
As soon as someone came into “their” streets, they started killing. Just pulling them out of trucks and kicking them wasn’t enough any more.
There have been enough pictures coming out of Portland to show America what is going on there. That is what the Democrats are just starting to worry about.
