On Saturday, activists in favor a ceasefire disrupted the California Democratic Convention. The disconnect between Democratic leadership and the Democratic base is becoming extreme. Protests are likely to increase.
Meanwhile the US is becoming increasingly isolated as even its European allies are supporting efforts to end the fighting. The UN security council recently passed a resolution for a “humanitarian pause”.
Meanwhile there appears to be growing efforts in Washington and Israel to remove Netanyahu as prime minister.
Has the Israeli invasion of Gaza become politically unsustainable?
Will the Israeli government be forced to accept a ceasefire?
Or will the war continue as Biden and Netanyahu join in a chorus of “You and me against the world”?
It’s kind of entertaining to watch those who are not Israelis tell them how to manage a constant threat from three sides of their country. These threats and actions have killed Israelis for decades and look at the world telling them they need to “pause”?
Netanyahu has made his intentions clear:
Return hostages without conditions
Hamas must be eradicated
He should not waiver
The US fought to end genocide in Europe. Is tacit support for genocide now official US policy?
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israelis were united in their fight against Hamas, whom he described as an enemy of incomparable cruelty. “They are committed to completely eliminating this evil from the world,” Netanyahu said in Hebrew. He then added: “You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible. And we do remember.” The Dangerous History Behind Netanyahu’s Amalek Rhetoric – Mother Jones
Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey. 1 Samuel 15:3 NKJV
Most Americans do not want to see our weapons used to level cities and to kill civilians.
The “European genocide” during the mid to latter 1930’s-1945 engineered by that certain megalomaniac whose name I dare not mention, likely has not been taught in American schools with historical accuracy for decades.
Otherwise the so-called “majority” of Americans that are calling for a pause or ceasefire would have another opinion of allowing Hamas any reason to breathe.
The French and British weren’t totally enamored with America and Americans during WWII. The French still aren’t our biggest fans.
But as I recall their oppressors were somewhat annihilated and surrendered.
Israel can’t be forced to do anything they don’t want to do. The fighting will stop when Hamas has been destroyed as a military threat. Pretty straightforward stuff.
