Florida’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate abruptly fired one of his staffers Thursday after the aide was caught on tape referring to the Sunshine State as the “cracker state” and saying the candidate was a “crazy, crazy, crazy” progressive.

Andrew Gillum “cut ties” with the campaign volunteer just hours after Project Veritas and James O’Keefe published the undercover footage on social media.

“Andrew Gillum’s campaign has cut ties with a campaign vendor and volunteer, Omar Smith, who was caught on undercover video by the conservative Project Veritas group saying that Gillum isn’t leveling with voters," writes Politico.

The undercover video also showed Smith saying Florida was a “f*ed up a state. A cracker state.”

“These comments don’t reflect the mayor or what our campaign is about. The campaign has no tolerance for the comments made in the video and we have severed ties,” said a Gillum campaign spokesperson.
