No I do not believe I am shifting the subject. The founders were deadset againstbm things like politically-addled judges, suspendeing habeas corpus w/o good cause, and jailing one’s political opponents.
That is exactly what classical liberals believe and modern liberals do woing, and that is exactly what we have been discussing.

I believe that political persecution (weapoizing the justice system) is wrong, and that our nation was founded on opposing it.
I believe the Dems have made that one of their primary tools.
I believe if Donald Trump actually did that thing he thought about for a few seconds, then he would be little better than the Dems in that regard.

You may recall that every time Donald Trump got indicted, his poll numbers rose I am part of that crowd.
Moreover, Donald Trump one the popular vote 49.8% to 48.3%.
If they had just ------ not tried to put him in jail, they would have won and today they woule be passing budgets, nominating Supreme Court Justices and setting border policy.

Of do we need to capture them, give them a full jury trial, and when found guilty execute them instead?

He referenced a specific set of events that occurred in 2020 (at least in part and parts of it were imagined) as a hypothetical for suspension of habeas corpus. Like any defender of the constitution would.
