Sen. Bernie Sanders: 'I am an independent'
The Vermont independent, who ran as a Democrat for president in 2016, put to rest questions about his party affiliation.

Bernie isn’t even a member of the Democratic Party. He is an Independent.
He’s a self admitted Democratic Socialist who caucuses with and runs as a Democrat.

He’s an Independent.
I very much doubt that the GOP will end up with 56 Senate seats. The Democrats will likely pick up the two Senate seats in Arizona and Nevada. Clinton won Nevada while Arizona is turning purple. The Republicans will probably pick up three Senate seats from the five states that Trump won by double digits. The GOP will probably end up with about 52 Senate seats.
I still think that the Democrats are going to take back the House during the upcoming mid-term elections.

We’ll see.
gooddad409: Joanne: gooddad409:You are right all the way around. The dems have greatly over played their hands and it is going against them.
You are also correct that things could shift again. Time will tell but for now it is swinging against them.
Yep, Bernis isn’t an outlier in the party any more. he’s becoming a mainstream Democrat.
The problem for them is many Americans are not nearly so left wing.
It’s very scary that their party is going so far left. If those people gain control we could eventually wind up like Venezuela.
Yep, I know. That’s what I mean about Bernie being a mainstream Democrat now. Much of the party agrees with his far left stances now.
Ds could very well nominate a lot of unelectable leftists in red or purple districts and states. And I’m sure hoping they do.
I could imagine that happening.
Zell Miller was their last warning. There are still some working class Dems out there but as long as the party keeps trying to win the black clad PC cool people, the center will be easy pickings.
mkh:“The left,” which isn’t a thing, is pushing for guaranteed government job for everyone? Please quote “the left” doing this.
Bernie Sanders is most definitely “the left”. And he’s got support from other Ds.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will announce a plan for the federal government to guarantee a job paying $15 an hour and health-care benefits to every American worker “who wants or needs one,” embracing the kind of large-scale government works project that Democrats have shied away from in recent decades.
Sanders’s jobs guarantee would fund hundreds of projects throughout the United States aimed at addressing priorities such as infrastructure, care giving, the environment, education and other goals. Under the job guarantee, every American would be entitled to a job under one of these projects or receive job training to be able to do so, according to an early draft of the proposal.
In principle: What is the difference between “work for your welfare” and “govt guaranteed job”?
Maybe Bernie is a closet conservative…
