Flu vaccine meeting cancelled

So next outbreak we restrict travel then. Good.

Ordinarily they do, and this meeting is the start of it. We just aren’t doing it anymore, I suppose. Heck, just because we are experiencing a really nasty flu season at the moment, it doesn’t mean we should do basic work to ensure it doesn’t get worse next season. Let’s see what happens!

Should be exciting in the hospital next year! We’ve been as busy as bees this year, lots of deaths and patients on vents. We’ve managed, so next year should be even busier. Job security!

Almost, probably, could’ve, mighta

Do you guys just sit around and think up stuff to stress over?

No wonder so many of you hid beneath your beds. You guys are afraid of your own shadow.

A requirement you can opt out from.

You don’t think it’s wise to plan for, and work to prevent a global ebola pandemic?

huh.

Ebola Reston (the name of the strain) was given its name because it was discovered in Reston, Virginia. And it was the only airborne hemorrhagic fever inducing virus ever discovered. Happened quite a bit ago, so perhaps it was a one off.

But if some clever country ever weaponized Ebola, there is every possibility an airborne strain can be created. And if it achieves measles transmissibility that right there is a nation killer. Cool stuff! But it’s still better to wish it away, no need to waste good tax dollars on stuff like that.

Bootstraps! Get out from the under bed and take a deep breath in!

What could go wrong?

And IF worms had machine guns, then birds wouldn’t eat them.

Back under the bed for you. To scary out here.

So what’s the problem? Just tell people to mask up and social distance from every other human being. That worked great for Covid.

Your way is better!

Why worry? No reason, life is for the living!

It was required when I was a kid. Has that changed for those in public schools? Usually required means required and you Libs are sticklers on your requirements as we found out during Covid.

One of 18 states where you can opt out for medical, religious beliefs, or now personal beliefs.

In the 2023-24 school year, more than 13,000 kindergarteners had a non-medical exemption from at least one vaccination in Texas, twice the number a decade ago. While other states had higher rates, Texas led the nation in total exemptions.

For sure! Really worked wonders. So far this year, 1/3 million Americans were hospitalized with the Flu and only 16 thousand of them died. While this is the worst in a decade, we’re still in the middle of it so there’s every chance records can be broken! This one kills kids too, which makes it interesting.

Heck, we just had the first Measles death in the US in forever the other day. Lots of kids hospitalized in Texas with respiratory distress. Will be interested how many will suffer encephalitis as well. We haven’t treated Measles in ages but parents know better and if they want their tykes vaccine free, well, it’s still America. Just keep the immune compromised kiddos at home, it’s a jungle out there!

No it is just that I tend to concern myself with stuff I can actually do something about.

And Ebola in the Congo is WAY down on the list.

So we have been doing something about Ebola. We’ve been an integral part of the response to outbreaks, helping to keep them localized and helping researchers around the world learn about the virus to hopefully someday create a vaccine.

But that was then and this is now! I’m sure the Congo will be fine without us! They have only been calling hte WH for like 5 days…doesn’t mean they need help, right?

This should give you pause, but for other reasons.

The US should say how high when the Congo says jump, dammit!

Some seem to be under the impression that they want something besides cash?

Besides, isn’t the Congo one of those countries that still practice slavery?

Why would we help someplace that has slavery?
