Fewer and fewer Americans want anything to do with serving in the military

White boys tend to favor combat arms.

US citizens are way overrepresented.

We need an army of foreign mercenaries to keep control over the restless natives.

It worked very well for the Roman Empire, until it didn’t.

The Roman empire didn’t fall, it became the church.

And China at Tiananmen Square.

For me it was several reaaons, 1st was I knew I was NOT ready for college, 2nd is that left factory work if lucky, 3rd I had always wanted to become a Marine, to “prove” I could do it, last and most importantly to me is I wanted to give back, to serve my country. At the time, I didn’t know that my ancestors had fought in the American Revolution, and every conflict/generation since, but my dad wanted to serve but was not able due to deaf in one ear but several uncles on both sides had served in Korea and Viet Nam and my grandfather in WWII. After I graduated boot and came home and went to visit them, that was the first time my grandfather shook my hand. That alone made it all worthwhile. Now my oldest daughter has continued the legacy by serving in the Navy, going on 13 years actually.

Earning the title of United States Marine was the proudest moment of my life, something that less than 1% can claim.

The west came under the control of the Vandals, Goths, Anglo-Saxons, Huns, and other pagan tribes.

Illegal immigrants and barbarian mercenaries became the ruling elites.

Rome is not “in the west.” The Roman empire contracted into the Roman Catholic church. It is alive and ill.

Thanks

Yes, that is a common misconception/oversimplification. The reality is that the Roman Empire ended in 1453 when the Turks took Constantinople.

The Roman Empire in the west came under the domination of Germanic kingdoms during the fifth century. The native population was mainly Catholic and spoke Latin dialects. Outside of Britain, the ruling class was Arian Christian and spoke Frankish or Gothic or similar languages.

During the sixth to eighth centuries, the Eastern Roman Empire was in control over much of Italy. Many of the popes spoke Greek and the election of the pope required the approval of the emperor in Constantinople. The ruling classes in the Germanic kingdoms gradually converted to Catholic Christianity. Administration of the Catholic churches in western Europe outside of Italy was mainly under local control.

The Roman Empire contracted into The Church.

Look at the new move by the Navy:

In response to ongoing challenges in meeting enlistment goals, the U.S. Navy has implemented a new policy allowing individuals without high school diplomas or GEDs to join its ranks.
