A federal judge on Feb. 21 found that the “selective prosecution” of far-right groups without charging their far-left counterparts for the same acts is “constitutionally impermissible.”
This ruling is long overdo in my opinion, and it could have far-reaching implications. The bill of rights is meaningless if groups like ANTIFA are a free to engage in violent attacks on its political opponents with the tacit support of prosecutors.
Are we seeing the being of the end of the weaponization of the federal justice system?
There are occasionally arrests on minor charges, which are then quietly dropped before trial. Felony convictions are extremely rare and prison time is even rarer.
Here is an example of the deal given one of the Antifa arsonists in Portland:
Alma Yesenia Raven-Guido pleaded guilty on March 23 to felony second-degree arson, two charges of felony rioting, felony first-degree criminal mischief, and three charges of second-degree disorderly conduct. She was given a sweetheart deal where she received no prison time and all but the arson charge would be deferred upon paying $50,000 in restitution. Shared post - Convicted Portland Antifa rioter and arsonist sentenced to no jail time in sweetheart deal
Yeah… she pled guilty. People usually get lowered sentences when they do that… especially if they are first time offenders.
I don’t get this need to pretend that Right wing extremists are being treated unfairly in this country. It is a very weird turn in the identity politics game.
