A senior FBI agent told Congressional leaders last week that the agency routinely leaked information to the press then used the corresponding stories to help obtain FISA warrants, reports Fox News.

Special Agent Jonathan Moffa made the startling admission while testifying before the House Judiciary Committee last week, telling lawmakers the FBI would use “media reports based on information they leaked” to “justify applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants.”

“The source told Fox News that Moffa did not specifically confirm the practice of using leaked information to bolster warrant applications was employed with regard to the dossier,” writes Fox News. “But, when pressed by the committees on whether this was common practice at the FBI, Moffa acknowledged the FBI had at least engaged in this activity in other cases.”

“We know that some people at the Department of Justice and the FBI actually gave information to the media, then the stories were reported. Then they used those reports to justify further investigations,” said House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows.

Its astounding the depths of political bias in the FBI that has been exposed. The FBI is the highest level of justice and law enforcement in the country and now we know its filthy with corruption.

Agreed. Even Meadows, the one making the sensational claim to begin with walked it back to basically:

  1. The FBI does use media reports in FISA warrants.
  2. Individuals in the FBI have leaked things to the media.
  3. I wonder if those two things overlap? Maybe?

The source later clarified that Moffa testified the FBI routinely uses media material to corroborate their work product, including FISA materials, but “never said directly ‘we utilize FBI leaks for FISAs.’”

So, this headline isn’t all that honest.
