I can’t wait for Dune III to come out so I can finally watch the first two. I’ve never seen any version of it.
The 1980s movie is worth watching just to see Patrick Stewart in a hair piece. It’s weird in that cool 80s way.
I did come across a comparison of the three versions of fights between young prince dude and big meanie killer on YouTube once. That’s all the footage I’ve seen, but he looked fantastic (the choreography on the second one was Mortal Kombat: Annihilation level garbage).
Dune Prophecy on MAX (HBO) is outstanding and is an excellent companion piece to the movies.
Sheesh. Isn’t that all the movies from 2024?
If you don’t mind subtitles, there’s a Korean trilogy that will be finishing up this year called The Witch: (insert subtitle) that I really like so far.
I’d add
Cabrini
Inside Out 2
The Forge
Touch
Saturday Night
In the Land of Saints and Sinners
to the OP list, and maybe trim one or two, but a solid list for 2024.
I much prefer the older stuff that is streamed. From your list I saw only 3. I never made it to the theater in 2024.
A Quiet Place: Day One (no real interest but watched with family)
Furiosa
Dune Part 2
is Cabrini about the nun? that was excellent. 4 stars from me
there were also some decent tv series that either stareted last year or continued last year or are about to have another season
silo
landman
mayfair witches
dark winds
wheel of time
taboo
last of us
handmaids tale
witcher
foundation
gen v
the boys
house of ninjas
shogun
monarch; legacy
a few others.
That’s the one.
She was fantastic. I told my wife that the actress (Christiana Dell’Anna) may have out-Cabrinied the real Cabrini.
If she’s not nominated for an Oscar, then something is wrong with their process.
Shogun was fantastic. I’m so ready for season 2 of that and I rarely get excited for TV shows.
Streaming has resulted in some truly excellent shows that would have otherwise never been filmed.
I am still salty that Max cancelled Raised By Wolves and delisted it. One of the best sci-fi shows ever.
Since Discovery bought them they are more focused on crappy reality shows, Though they have redeemed themselves somewhat with Dune Prophecy.
Why the heck they took a globally recognized brand HBO and renamed it MAX I will never know.
to be sure that was a good show. I have noticed quite a few of the better shows being cancelled after one season, maybe two, while shows that should be cancelled continue on. That said, I do realize its the bigger budgets that get them axed most of the time. Seems a normal run for a good show is turning into 3 eight episode seasons over 6 years. I get tired of waiting two years for the next season, by the time it comes on you have to rewatch the first season to know where it was or just skip it entirely.
Anything after 5 seasons is just milking all the mediocre parts that never got resolved.
