Failed New Jersey Wind

Another project that was supposed to make the world greener and line the pockets of the environmentalists….

Instead, a fresh dispute with Orsted over some or all of the $300 million could add insult to injury for Murphy and the state’s Democrats.

And my favorite part of the article…

Blaming the death of the project in part on an air quality permit is ironic, in part because wind energy is considered a clean alternative to burning coal or gas, two traditional sources of power in the Eastern United States.

Democrats at work.

Wind projects are ■■■■■■■ insane and they kill wildlife.

And Dimocrats are a piece of work.

All aboard the (D)umbass Express!

This sounds a little fishy. Seems like the company needs to blame permitting to be able to hold on to 100M.

from the article:

An EPA spokesperson said the agency “only requested additional information from Orsted to complete their application for an air permit. We continue to stand ready to process the permit as soon as we receive the additional requested information.”

Those projects were subject to fierce NIMBY. A lot of people are cheering down the shore right now.

This is a better article.

An air quality permit is required to drive wind turbines?

Doomsday Climate Cult at work.

Yeah I am kind of disappointed to see that one fail.
I am all-in-favor of wind power, where it really can be done feasibly
and have mixed feeling about them when they can be viewed from shore
(both of these projects could be.)

The project became politicized with the GOP making all sorts of false or probably false arguments.

More importantly there is quite a bit off offshore oil and natural gas in the nearby Atlantic. We should be developing those. Opposing the offshore wind projects here did not help the effort.

In the end liberalism is always wrong.

The woke nitwit climate cult left…

Is always wrong.

I see the NIMBY thing is the new crying call of libs…if your fellow libs are just going up whine about the ugly windmills then What’s the point?

Someone should tally up the amount of money paid by hardworking taxpayers who don’t always have it to waste that’s been pissed away by lunatic lib klimate kooks.

New Jersey breaks wind? to quote the “unofficial” state song :“Oh, baby this town rips the bones from your back - It’s a death trap, it’s a suicide rap - We gotta get out while we’re young
'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run”

I live in NJ and I’m glad this was scrapped. It’s not like it would have lowered our energy bill.

Correct. The Philly-NYC area has a huge population and it would take a huge amount of new energy to lower our energy prices here.
We’d get that from offshore oil and gas wells, but not from wind power.

I live here (Exit 4).

Ocean Wind 1 was to be located 15 miles offshore. It’s 156m tall so it can be seen from shore unless it were quite a bit further out

Google says a 100meter structure can be seen from 22.5 miles away.
Google also says the continental shelf here is about 100mi away so it could have been located further out. There is plenty of room for them to locate it further out. The fact that Orsted wanted to locate it so close to shore tells me the $$ were tight on this project.

Since that’s the case, a little blip in interest rates or energy prices is all it took

And here’s the boyhood 'ome where the Guv’nah grew up. Just a bike ride away from Trump and Jacqueline Onassis (and other) big-time real estate spreads.

Of course, proximity doesn’t translate into similarity of wealth. It’s easy to tell when you’ve crossed the border back into normalcy on the return trip.

But as for wind farms and unsightliness, you Jerseyites ain’t seen nothing compared to the sprawling wind farms in Kansas and Colorado and Nebraska. Unsightly way out at sea? Meh. Put thousands out there. They’ll look like tinkertoys from the beach. Out here, a fun thing is to try timing your driving on the highway so that your car paces with the blade shadows on the road. (On some days it’s easy to get a speeding ticket trying that.)
