Donald Trump Today: Federal Employees may have to Prove they didn’t have another job during their employment with the US Gov't. If they did, that would be UNLAWFUL

Right, not a lot you can do about that. But still not on the employee to prove they did not.

How can that feasibly be done? If someone asked me what I did each day in January 2022 I would not be able to answer that.

Job requirements include compling with all oversight and audits.

Yes technically that is not"proving"in the legal sense,
if you are trying to prove that Donald Ttump minced his words congratulations, you win!

If you are trying to say

  • employees can never be told to produce evidence of how they spent their time, or
  • they do not have to comply with audits

then you are completely incorrect and possibly off your rocker.

I dunno.
I imagine bosses are pretty llimited in what they can do,
but --------- if and when they come up with enough evidence a to trigger a legal investigation it can include everything from searching your bank records to the memory bank of your ISP and your computer hard drive, your phone records . . . the works.

  1. See income to the IRS from two remote jobs.
  2. contact second job to see what hour were online.
  3. firing/charges as appropriate, or not if no conflict.

Federal employees should be expected to show their work when telecommuting. Of course they shouldn’t be working on their side gig during taxpayer funded work time. If you’re doing your other job when you’re supposed to be doing your federal job, that’s stealing, and should absolutely be punishable by fines and imprisonment. This used to be common sense.

No…but working on another job while being on government clock is.

My printer (made by HP) has “the internet of things.”
That means HP knows when I have used 500 pages of paper or x amount of ink. I bet they could get a record of that with a few computer clicks.

Comcast could probably type few words into a keyboard print you a recored of every time I visited Youtube or Amazon.com sent and email and to whom I sent it (and with a warrant or court order, the contents of the email as well.)

MY point?
1.) If I were using an employer provided computer, or phone or internet connection etc. . . . there is a whole bevy of information, easily avialable, that would show if I were using an employer’s stuff for activities not-related to my job.

2.) A pattern would quickly develop if I were actually using said employer-provided ISP, phone, computer etc to carry on a second job.

3.) From there the legal investigation would REALLY take the gloves off and would open my tax returns, my bank statments, my personal computer, my personal phone . . . . everything.

Yep. That’s timecard fraud.

Is it a crime to have two jobs?

Agreed and throw the book at them.
But is there any evidence, any evidence at all, that there is any kind of significant amount of this fraud? Is it enough to require 2 million employees to prove their innocence?

Please try to keep up.

Oh get real. They are not going to spend literally tens of thousands of dollar and countless man hours, trawling tax returns, requesting tax records, doing a forensic audit of finances etc etc.

There is a lot of wishful thinking going on in this thread.

It is pretty simple actually, they will get either a W2 or a 1099 from the non-government employer in their name and under their social security number. The IRS will have the proof of outside employment.

You do know it is just a computer search by SSN.

You’re asking a lot.

They don’t even understand the basic premise here as to WHEN you are working that second job.

I’m beginning to think they are as smart as their leader Biden.

Great then the federal government as the employer can do that. But the premise of this thread was that the employee may have to prove they did not have a second job.

As I said in an earlier post if it can be proven that an individual was working a second job in violation of their contract of employment then they should be fired.

May.

Meh.

Not wanting the government to do anything has now transitioned into hating anyone who helps the government do things. All this hate and distrust of public servants is so sad.
