The US as a whole does tend to offer less Paid Time Off than other developed nations, but I think among many employers there is a shift in how they view paid time off.
As I said before the whole grind culture is not healthy and the sooner we move away from work being the entire focus of our adult lives the better for all of us.
They used to view it as a complete waste of money and now they view it as a necessary cost of doing business … or rather attracting and keeping employees.
Still pushing that stupid crap are you. You might want to stay in your own lane or live in the real world. Some of us grew up in the horse world and some are like you who pretend they know about horses. Husband thinks your twelve.
I will say it again. Your ex girlfriend was an idiot. Horses are livestock they are bought and sold. They are not rehomed. There are a lot of charites that rely on stupid people to give them money so they can purchase livestock feed them a little and turn around and resell the livestock for more than they paid. Charites like these depend on stupid people to support them so they don’t have to pay their own way in live. Now maybe it is time for all the want a be horse people to talk about something they actually know about.
Oh I am sure that is a big reason why but regardless of the underlying reason, the employee benefits as does the employer.
I recently moved onto unlimited PTO with my employer and very aware that one of the reasons my employer is doing this is it removes having accrued PTO hours as a liability on their accounts but I am not going to complain.
Look how they helped remove Aunt Jemima from the royalties train.
Nobody is asking for that to be reversed.
So…I don’t believe them and their sincerity.
You could be spot on. It sounds good. I’m just a bit skeptical. Why did they deem it a necessary cost? Do they believe a happier employee is more productive? Do they think that added production supersedes the cost of paid time off? That’s why I’m skeptical.
Same with attracting and keeping employees. Why didn’t they think it would attract and keep employees 2-3 decades ago? I knew people that did not take all of their vacation weeks. I’ve seen people talk about it on message boards. As if it was expected of them. That’s how they thought they’d get ahead. What changed?
Something must have changed in the workforce environment. Businesses don’t usually do an about face on what the deemed a complete waste without a good reason.
If you don’t like Rosa Parks Day, maybe this is more your speed?
“Just as George Washington’s birthday is codified as a federal holiday, President Trump’s birthday should also be celebrated to recognize him as the founder of America’s Golden Age,” Tenney wrote on the social platform X on Monday.
If celebrating Trumps birthday results in another federal holiday then I am all for it. The more paid time off employees can get the better.
My employer already pays for I think 10 holidays including Juneteenth, 2 mental health days on top of employees earning x number of hours of PTO every two weeks. So i doubt we would get another paid holiday regardless if it Rosa Parks, Trump or anyone else.
Agreed. But it would be too close to Juneteenth. I think Trumps birthday is June 14th. What are mental health days? I think we call them personal days.
I get 17 holidays, one of them is Black Friday. I don’t get any of them off unless I take them off.
I have a question for you or anyone else. I take Thanksgiving week off every year. I get 7 days pay for the week due to the holidays. If you work the week you get a total of 8 days paid for the week. The regular 5 days pay plus time and a half twice. Would you rather work it or stay home?
I can’t believe you really don’t know that horses are livestock just like cattle and hogs.
I probably own more horses today than you will ever seen in your lifetime. Come on out to the ranch I have a few stalls that still need cleaned today and maybe you will learn a few things and not keep showing your ignorance. Thoroughbreds are bred for more than racing. You are digging a hole and now you are pulling the dirt in over yourself. Heck there are a couple of thoroughbreds out in my barn today and they most certainly don’t race. They are much smarter than that. And just like all livestock they were purchased at a livestock auction.
