Chair of the Democratic National Committee Tom Perez raised eyebrows across the country Sunday; saying Republican lawmakers must "pay a price” for confirming Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court.
Perez issued the stark warning in a fundraising email sent to supporters immediately following Kavanaugh’s confirmation; saying “Here is one thing we’ve learned from the Brett Kavanaugh fight: We can never, ever, trust congressional Republicans to stand up to Donald Trump.”
"If you’re able, make a $3 donation right now to make Republicans pay a price for Brett Kavanaugh,” writes Perez. “So it really is this simple: If we don’t want people like Brett Kavanaugh to be appointed to lifetime positions in our federal judiciary, we need to elect Democratic majorities this November.”
Perez’ comments come days after leading GOP politicians -such as Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul- were confronted at DC-area restaurants and airports over their support for Brett Kavanaugh; requiring many to add an extra security detail while working at the US Capitol.
