Because we aren’t a democracy? The extra votes are for the states themselves.

States are represented by the senators. Senators are selected via popular vote.

What’s the difference between a vote for Trump in CA vs a vote for Trump in OK?

What’s the difference between the two EC votes California gets as a state, and the two Utah gets as a state.

Don’t like a republic. Pass an amendment.

If we elected the President by popular vote we’d still be a republic.

What? California has 55 electoral college votes and Utah has 6. If you don’t like small states having extra power, at least stick with the way the Senate seats are apportioned.

And then see if you can get all those small states to give up their Constitutional rights for an amendment.

It’s not that I don’t want small states to have power, its that I don’t want states to factor into electing the PUSA at all. I want a Californian’s vote to weigh the same as someone’s in Utah.
