A letter released from the Office of Budget Management Friday confirmed members of Congress are prohibited from using “government aircraft” during a federal shutdown; saying all legislators and their staff need “White House approval” for air travel.

“In light of the current partial government shutdown, the President has asked me to direct the heads of all executive departments and agencies of the Administration on new policies in support of Legislative Branch travel,” reads the statement.

“Under no circumstances during a government shutdown will any government owned, rented, leased, or chartered aircraft support any Congressional delegation, without the express written approval of the White House Chief of Staff,” adds the letter.

The statement comes hours after President Trump abruptly canceled Speaker Pelosi’s overseas trip; demanding the Democratic leader remain in Washington and re-open the federal government.
