DEBBIE’S DEFENDER: Senator Says Trump Turning US into ‘Banana Republic’ over IT Scandal

Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy slammed President Trump on social media Thursday, bizarrely suggesting the Commander-in-Chief was transforming the US into a ‘Banana Republic’ after Trump called for an investigation into Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Murphy posted his comments on Twitter just minutes after the President urged the DOJ to not let Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her IT staffer “off the hook” over their widening server scandal, saying “They want to make a ‘plea deal’ to hide what is on their Server. Where is Server? Really bad!”

“Just FYI Republicans, when the United States is a banana republic in 10 years, how do you think you’ll feel about being silent when our President told his DoJ to start arresting his political opponents?” asked the Senator.

The President and Murphy were referring to a recent report that claims Imran Awan was seeking a plea deal with the DOJ regarding the missing server; prompting many to speculate he was willing to “flip” on his former boss.
