Oops that was from 2007

Oh well, they couldn’t possibly make two wrong forecasts, could they?

Time to start encouraging the NPC’s to parrot how great the economy is doing. Election is in one year.

FDR had his fireside chats. He never said “Everything is wonderful.” He said "this is tough but we will get through this.

JImmy Carter did the same

Ronald Reagan was even more positive, but he did not say “Things are already great.” He said “It is morning in America. Things get better from here.”

By contrast, Joe Biden stops bad mouthing US companies, US rich people, US bigots etc.etc. just long enough to encourage people to go play in traffic.
It’s heinous.

It is not necessary to pretend things are better than they are.
It is not politically expedient to pretend things are better than they are.
So wny do it?

Remember when banks and investors held a bunch of bad mortgages that everyone simply pretended were good?

Well, when rates rise something a lot like that happens with stocks and bonds.
According to wolfstreet.com (reasonably authoritative, but well . . . call this “probable” not “definite.”)
