Governor Andrew Cuomo and other prominent New Yorkers sent a full-page letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos this week; begging the technology giant to return to the Big Apple after leading Democrats forced the corporation out of New York City.

“Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who was staggered by Amazon’s decision to pull out of its plans to come to New York City, is working intensely behind the scenes to lure the company back, even connecting with Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder, to make a personal pitch,” reports the New York Times.

The letter has been signed by over 70 labor unions, local businesses, community groups, and elected officials in an attempt to lure Amazon back to the borough of Queens.

The mega-corporation abruptly canceled their plans to construct a massive headquarters in New York City just weeks ago after widespread protests from leading lawmakers -including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“New Yorkers do not want to give up on the 25,000 permanent jobs, 11,000 union construction and maintenance jobs, and $28 billion in new tax revenues that Amazon was prepared to bring to our state,” states the letter.
